Rodtang Jitmuangnon Overcomes Petchdam Petchyindee at One Championship: No Surrender

One Championship is officially back from its forced hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The promotion came back with an abbreviated card of One Championship: No Surrender, which took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The main event featured a Muay Thai clash between One flyweight champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and challenger Petchdam Petchyindee Academy. The encounter went on for five rounds, but it was soon visible that Rodtang’s skills were superior. While the challenger did his best, Rodtang proved to be just too much to deal with throughout the fight. With his victory by unanimous decision, the champ secured his third title defense.

In the co-main event, Phetmorakot Petchyindee Academy put his featherweight Muay Thai belt on the line against Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex. Phetmorakot used his legendary accuracy to keep his opponent at a distance, and the ruthless aggression of Yodsanklai did not help this time. Eventually, the judges rewarded Phetmorakot with a decision victory.

In the rubber match of their epic trilogy, Superbon Banchamek handled Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong via unanimous decision after three rounds of kickboxing in the One featherweight division.

In some MMA action, Nong Stamp (5-0) managed to keep her record perfect after smashing One debutant Sunisa Srisan (3-1). Right out of the gate, the flamboyant “Stamp Fairtex” put pressure on her opponent, landing kicks practically at will. Stamp also found success with many vicious shots from the clinch. Halfway through the first round, “Stamp Fairtex” threw her opponent on the canvas and quickly took Srisan's back, where she started to land a few shots. Srisan held on tightly with a headlock, but the referee decided he saw enough and called the end of the fight at the 3:59 mark in the opening stanza.

In the first MMA fight on the card, Fabricio Andrade (3-2) made a statement against longtime vet Mark Abelardo (19-7) in his One debut. Andrade showed off a surgical striking, punishing his opponent with his crisp jab. Abelardo tried repeatedly to take the action to the ground, but the Brazilian proved that he could hold his own as far as grappling goes. Early into the second round, the Brazilian fighter took his opponent’s back and locked a vicious rear-naked choke that put Abelardo to sleep at the 1:11 mark.

The card opened with Superlek Kiatmuu9 edging Panpayak Jitmuangnon via decision in a 155-pound Muay Thai clash.
