Gracie will square off against Dominic Sumner in a welterweight clash at the May 9 event. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the news. As of now, Bellator 242 is still scheduled to take place at the SAP Center in Sacramento, Calif. The promotion postponed its most recent event, Bellator 241 on March 13, due to concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

Gracie is the son of Relson Gracie and the nephew of Royce Gracie. He joins family members Neiman Gracie, Robson Gracie Jr. and Khonry Gracie on the Bellator MMA roster. Sumner, meanwhile, owns an 11-3 professional mark.

The other six confirmed preliminary matchups are as follows: Alan Benson vs. Evan Gubera, Ivan Batinich vs. Joseph Kropschot, Hyder Amil vs. Brandon Laroco, Gabriel Dolce-Pacheco vs. Abraham Vaesau, Ryan Attebery vs. Mike Howard and Daniel Oseguera vs. Socrates Hernandez.

Bellator 242 is headlined by a light heavyweight championship tilt between Ryan Bader and Vadim Nemkov. In the co-main event, Gegard Mousasi and Douglas Lima will square off for the vacant middleweight crown.
