According to a release, Schaub’s television comedy special will air on Showtime on May 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The show, which is entitled “Brendan Schaub You’d Be Surprised,” was filmed at Spreckels Theatre in San Diego this past January.

Schaub retired from MMA following a first-round stoppage loss to Travis Browne at UFC 181 on Dec. 6, 2014. “The Ultimate Fighter” 10 finalist has found significant success in the podcast industry since then, most notably with his long-running show “The Fighter and the Kid” with co-host Bryan Callen. According to the release, that podcast averages more than nine million downloads per month. He also co-hosts “The King and Sting” podcast and has made regular appearances on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

In addition to performing live comedy shows all over the world, Schaub co-hosted the Bravo television series “Play by Play” with Jerry O’Connell and was a correspondent for “After Party” on the E! Network. He also co-hosted after shows for last year’s Golden Globes and Grammys.

A former college football player, Schaub compiled a 10-5 record in the MMA, a mark that includes a 6-5 stint in the UFC. “Big Brown” earned notable wins over the likes of Mirko Filipovic, Gabriel Gonzaga and Matt Mitrione during his professional tenure.
