It appears that Absolute Championship Berkut has fallen on hard times.
According to multiple reports, the Russian mixed martial arts
promotion has canceled its card scheduled for Saturday. ACB 89 was
to take place at Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center in Limassol,
Cyprus and was headlined by a clash between Bellator MMA veteran
Alexander
Sarnavskiy and Herdeson
Batista.
The cancellation was initially reported by Marcel Dorff via Twitter and then confirmed by MMANytt.com.
There will likely be more cancellations to follow. RTSport News Editor Denis Geyko reported on Twitter that the promotion has canceled other upcoming shows in Kazan, Russia, on July 28 and Malmo, Sweden, on Aug. 25, along with a previously reported cancellation in the U.K. ACB has yet to formally make an announcement regarding Saturday’s event, or the cards in Russia and Sweden.
Last week, the promotion confirmed that ACB 91, scheduled for London on Aug. 11, had been canceled due to “technical problems.”
“All of the fights, that were announced for the card will be rescheduled for the closest ACB events,” read a statement on the promotion’s Facebook page regarding ACB 91. “All the money from ticket sales for this event will be returned in full to the buyers. ACB sincerely apologizes to fans for any inconvenience.”
