Ashley Yoder will have a new opponent at UFC Singapore in October.
Originally, Yoder (7-4) was scheduled to fight Xiaonan Yan, but "Fury" had to pull out with an injury. First reporting the story was Combate on Wednesday. On Thursday, MMA Junkie reports that Canadian Randa Markos (9-7-1) will step up on short notice to take on Yoder. UFC Fight Night 162 takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, on Oct. 26.
Markos lost her last fight at UFC 239 to Claudia Gadelha, dropping a unanimous decision to the former strawweight title challenger. "Quiet Storm" has had a tumultuous Ultimate Fighting Championship career to date, going 5-6-1 inside the Octagon. Other than her draw with Marina Rodriguez, she has largely alternated wins and losses in the promotion. The Canadian holds notable victories over Carla Esparza and Angela Hill, among others.
Yoder is riding a two-fight winning streak, most recently capturing a decision over Syuri Kondo at UFC Fight Night 154. Before that, she edged Amanda Bobby Cooper by split verdict at UFC Fight Night 139. "The Spider Monkey" rebounded from a three-fight skid with those two victories, where she lost against the likes of Hill and Mackenzie Dern.
UFC Fight Night 162 goes down on Oct. 26, and is headlined by a welterweight bout between Ben Askren and Demian Maia.
