UFC 208 presently has no slated main event. The Manuwa-Teixeira bout joins a previously announced flyweight bout between Wilson Reis and Yuta Sasaki as the only known bouts for the event thus far.
Manuwa, 36, spent 13 months on the sideline due to injury following his September 2015 knockout loss to Anthony Johnson. In his return to action at UFC 204 in Manchester on Oct. 8, “The Posterboy” knocked out Ovince St. Preux in the second round to announce his return to 205-pound relevance.
The 37-year-old Teixeira, a perennial light heavyweight elite, saw his three-fight winning streak snapped at UFC 202 in August when he too felt the power of Anthony Johnson, lasting just 13 seconds before “Rumble” knocked him out. The Brazilian had consecutively stopped the aforementioned St. Preux, Patrick Cummins and former champion Rashad Evans before running into Johnson.
