Cub Swanson is looking to push his win streak to three against a tough Canadian adversary in May.

On Thursday, MMA DNA first reported that Swanson (27-11) would be returning to the cage to face Gavin Tucker (13-1) at featherweight. The two are reportedly set to square off at the recently announced UFC Fight Night card on May 1, which should take place either in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas or in Abu Dhabi, Untied Arab Emirates. The 145-pounders should join another featherweight matchup recently discussed for this event, between T.J. Laramie and Damon Jackson, per MMA Lock of the Night on Twitter.

Swanson came back after over a year away and a major knee injury to knock out Daniel Pineda, all while earning his first stoppage victory since 2013. The win streak he currently rides, which includes a thrilling decision after a brawl with Kron Gracie, is his first win streak since he won four straight from 2016 to 2017. Throughout his lengthy career that began with World Extreme Cagefighting, “Killer Cub” has notched many impressive victories over the likes of Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens and Artem Lobov along the way.

“Guv’Nor” has rattled off a trio of wins since his first career loss, a decision setback to Rick Glenn in 2017. Taking nearly two years off from the hellacious beating that drew criticism for referee Kyle Cardinal not intervening to stop the fight, the Canadian has righted himself ever since. In 2019, Tucker’s return came with a third-round submission over Seung Woo Choi. The coronavirus pandemic pushed back his return into August 2020, where he tapped out Justin Jaynes also in the third round. His last victory came at UFC 256, when he took a one-sided decision over Billy Quarantillo to push his streak to three.

The UFC Fight Night event on May 1 does not currently have a location, although it will likely be held in the UAE or in Las Vegas, possibly depending on the pandemic. There is no headliner set for this card nor is there a main card announced. It will be part of a stretch of consecutive UFC weekend events that begins on April 10.
