Report: Conor McGregor Under Investigation for Second Sexual Assault in Ireland

For the second time in less than a year, Conor McGregor is under investigation for an alleged sexual assault in his home country.

According to a report from the New York Times, the latest allegation is in regards to a complaint that woman in her 20s was assaulted outside a pub in Dublin, Ireland, last week. McGregor has not been charged with a crime and has yet to speak to police about the incident.

Meanwhile, multiple Irish outlets have reported that authorities are investigating a “famous Irish sports star” in connection with an assault on a young woman in Dublin on Friday night. National laws in Ireland prohibit media from identifying a suspect if they are not convicted of a crime.

Irish police have released the following statement:

"Gardaí in Crumlin are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a woman that occurred, Friday 11th October, 2019 at approximately 9pm on Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12. Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time."

McGregor is still awaiting to learn whether he will be charged for allegedly raping a woman at a Dublin hotel in December 2018. The Irish star was reportedly arrested on Jan. 17 and then released pending further investigation without being charged in regards to that case.

“Conor McGregor is frequently the subject of rumors,” a publicist for the fighter said in an emailed statement to the New York Times. “He emphatically denies any report accusing him of sexual assault.”

McGregor was recently in Dublin court to answer to charges of assaulting an elderly man at a pub in April. That case is still pending, and another hearing is scheduled for next month.

McGregor last competed in the Octagon at UFC 229, where he was submitted in the fourth round by Khabib Nurmagomedov in a lightweight championship bout in October 2018.
