Ray Borg Holds No Ill Will Against Fellow Father Conor McGregor After Bus Attack

Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight Ray Borg has had a very tough start to 2018. Back in April, he was scheduled to face Brandon Moreno at UFC 223 in Brooklyn. As Borg and other fighters boarded the bus for their media commitments, a group of men including UFC fighters Conor McGregor and Artem Lobov ambushed the bus, attempting to lure out Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor was filmed attacking the bus by throwing a loading dolly through a window. A shard from the broken window hit Borg in his eye, forcing him off the card.

At the time, Borg was also dealing with much more serious issues on the home front involving his newborn son, Anthony Borg. Borg’s son was born three weeks premature on March 27 and as a result was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, and spent two months in the hospital. Borg was finally able to bring his son home on none other than Father’s Day and he is reportedly doing well.

Borg recently talked with MMA Fighting and said his experience involving his son has given him some perspective on life, in particular how his feelings towards McGregor changed in the months after the bus attack that left him injured and unable to fight on the pay-per-view card.

“After having a kid and watching him go through what he had to go through, I learned that there’s not a whole lot of room for hate,” he said. “Everything that happened with me and Conor, I don’t hate the dude no more.

“I have a certain feeling toward people who have healthy kids. I value that, so it actually makes me really happy that Conor has his boy and shows him off on social media. What we went through, I wouldn’t wish it on anybody, so it’s nice to see people enjoy their kids.”
