Prospect Paddy Pimblett Inks New Deal with Cage Warriors, Set to Return Sept. 1 in Liverpool

Paddy Pimblett won’t be UFC bound in time to make the Las Vegas-based promotion’s Liverpool card on May 27, but he will be competing in the English city later this year.

Cage Warriors announced on Saturday that it has re-signed its former featherweight champion to a multi-fight deal, and “Paddy the Baddy” will return to action on Sept. 1 in Liverpool at the Echo Arena. Per a release from the European promotion:

“Despite plenty calling for Pimblett to feature on the UFC’s newly-announced Liverpool date, ‘The Baddy’ remains determined to carry out his mission to reclaim a Cage Warriors world title by signing a new deal with [President Graham] Boylan’s promotion. Whether or not his [Cage Warriors 96] appearance will be a challenge for a title is yet to be confirmed, but one thing is for certain: Pimblett will return to the Echo Arena on September 1st at the top of the bill.”

The 23-year-old Pimblett has won 11 of his last 12 bouts, including a flying triangle submission of Alexis Savvidis in his most recent outing at Cage Warriors 90 on Feb. 24.

In addition to Cage Warriors 96 in Liverpool, the organization also revealed that Cage Warriors 95 will take place at the O2 Arena in London on July 21. No bouts or participants were announced for the London show.

“London and Liverpool have turned into two seriously strong pillars for MMA in Europe,” Boylan said. “There’s some incredible talent coming out of both cities, and our events there get better every time. We’re always looking to do bigger things and take greater steps to give fans what they want – the best Cage Warriors experience we can possibly offer. These next two shows will do exactly that.”
