Peter Barrett Wants Spot on UFC Boston; Will Debut at Featherweight

Newly signed Peter Barrett has his sights set on the Ultimate Fighting Championship's return trip to Boston in October.

Barrett earned a UFC contract on the final episode of Season 3 on Dana White's Contender Series. In a grinding fight, one that UFC President Dana White even admitted he did not enjoy, "Slippery Pete" captured a decision over Sang Hoon Yoo. Despite not getting the finish, he was content with his performance and glad he earned a contract.

"I am happy I won and able to grind him down and able to break him down. Obviously, I would have liked to see a finish, that is who I am," Barret said to Sherdog.com. "I'm always looking for the finish, but to show those guys, to go three hard rounds, I think is good for me."

With a contract in hand, Barrett already has a close eye on UFC on ESPN 6, which takes place on Oct. 18 in Boston, near his hometown. He has also decided that when he makes the walk to the Octagon for the first time, it will be at featherweight, and not as a lightweight as he appeared on the Contender Series.

"I mean I have been icing and massaging everything that hurts, so yeah it is a realistic possibility. They said if I can make 145 pounds they will put me on the UFC Boston card. The sooner I find out at Boston the better. I was adamant I am a featherweight and want to fight at 145 in the UFC. I only walk around like 165 pounds. They are open to me moving down to featherweight."

As of now, Barrett has not heard word if he will be on the Boston card, but he is hoping he will be.
