If you wondered why Paul Felder has been contemplating retirement recently, “The Irish Dragon” has the visual evidence to support his reasons for considering a full-time transition into broadcasting.

The 35-year-old shared a series of photos Monday on Instagram, with each displaying a different injury suffered as a result of fighting. The third slide displays what Felder reveals in the comments to be the punctured portion of a collapsed lung that had to be removed.

“I get asked a lot when I’m returning or if I’m officially retired,” Felder wrote. “I miss the Octagon and competing but these pictures are how I come home to a 5-year-old princess. It’s a hard job. This is why I love commentating. I get to talk about the toughest athletes on the planet.”

Felder last appeared at UFC Fight Night 168, where he dropped a split decision to Dan Hooker in the evening’s main event on Feb. 23. According to MMADecisions.com, 12 of the 17 unofficial media scorecards thought Felder won that fight. Felder hinted toward retirement in his post-fight interview in the Octagon.

“I knew it was close,” Felder said. “I feel like I hurt him a lot in the fight, but he got the takedowns, which is smart. He busted me up pretty good. That might be it for me.”

Later, however, Felder seemed to have reconsidered that notion, saying, “I have a lot let in me.” The Roufusport product does not currently have a fight booked.
