Lightweight contender Patricky Freire has suffered an injury, resulting in the cancellation of a proposed headlining clash against Derek Campos on Dec. 3 at Winstar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla. Campos will be paid his show money and the contest will be rescheduled in 2017. Sherdog.com confirmed the news with a promotion official following an initial report from MMAFighting.com.

As a result of the cancellation, a bantamweight rematch between Joe Taimanglo and Darrion Caldwell will serve as the new Bellator 167 main event. The card’s original headliner pitting Pat Curran against John Teixeira da Conceicao was scrapped after Curran suffered an injury.

Freire and Campos first squared off at Bellator 117 in April 2014, with the Brazilian winning via technical knockout 52 seconds into round two. Freire hasn’t competed since a first-round knockout loss against Michael Chandler in a lightweight title bout at Bellator 157.
