Adams County (Colo.) law enforcement arrived at the couple’s home to find Copeland’s wife with “an obvious bruise on her left eye, a cut and was bleeding. There was blood down the front of her face and neck,” per the police report.

Copeland’s wife told police that the couple had an argument that began with both of them pushing each other and her slapping her husband in the face. Eventually, Copeland allegedly punched his wife, threw her on the bed and took her phone so she wouldn’t be able to call for help. Police later found the phone in Copeland’s pocket. Copeland’s wife was transported to a nearby hospital following the alleged attack.

Copeland was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, obstruction and child abuse, as the incident allegedly occurred in front of the couple’s child. According to the report, Copeland had blood and redness on his face but did not remember punching his wife.

The PFL has indefinitely suspended Copeland in light of the domestic violence allegations. The fighter is reportedly due in court next week.

“The PFL has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence," read a statement from the organization. "Per our company policy, following his arrest, Josh Copeland has been suspended indefinitely.”

Copeland, a 36-year-old Denver native, reached the finals of PFL’s $1 million season, where he suffered a fourth-round technical knockout loss to Philipe Lins in the organization’s championship on Dec. 31. The Grudge Training Center product owns an 18-6-1 career record that included an 0-2 stint in the UFC.

Note: This story was updated at approximately 3:08 p.m. ET to include a statement from the PFL regarding Copeland's suspension.
