Olympic Medalists Damian Janikowski, Szymon Kolecki to Meet in KSW 52 Co-Headliner
A pair of Polish Olympians will square off in the KSW 52 co-main event.
The promotion announced Monday that Damian Janikowski will face Szymon Kolecki in a 202-pound affair at Gliwice Arena in Gliwice, Poland, on Dec. 7. KSW 52 is headlined by a catchweight showdown between Scott Askham and the recently unretired Mamed Khalidov.
A bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2012 London Olympics, Janikowski has compiled a 4-2 record while competing exclusively under the KSW banner. In his last appearance, the 30-year-old Berkut WCA Fight Team representative halted a two-fight skid when he forced Tony Giles to verbally submit in the first found of their encounter at KSW 50.
Kolecki, meanwhile, captured a gold medal in weightlifting at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and a silver medal in Sydney in 2000. The 37-year-old defeated popular strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski via first-round TKO in his promotional debut at KSW 47 this past march. Kolecki is 7-1 over the course of his pro career, with all of his victories coming by knockout or technical knockout.
