“Sick of sitting around waiting for you f----ers to do s—t,” Diaz wrote. “There's no excitement in this fight s—t. Step your games up. I'll see u around May, June. Sincerely, The Real Champ.”
Diaz last appeared at UFC 202 on Aug. 20, 2016, when he lost a majority decision to Conor McGregor. Diaz’s rivalry with the Irish star that year – he submitted McGregor in the second round of their first meeting at UFC 196 – raised his stock considerably within the Las Vegas-based promotion.
Since then, Diaz’s boxing coach said that his fighter would require a $20 to $30 million payday for a trilogy bout against McGregor, which remains one of the most fan-friendly fights should the “Notorious” one elect to fight again in the UFC.
Late last year, Diaz was linked to a welterweight title bout against Tyron Woodley at UFC 219 on Dec. 30. While UFC President Dana White denied that such a fight was ever in the works, both indicated the opposite was true. However, it never came to fruition and Woodley elected to have shoulder surgery instead.
