If Holly Holm is to get a victory over Germaine de Randamie, it will have to be via rematch.

The New York State Athletic Commission denied Holm’s appeal of her unanimous decision loss to de Randamie in their featherweight championship bout at UFC 208 in Brooklyn on Feb. 11. Sherdog.com confirmed the ruling on Tuesday with an NYSAC official following an initial report from MMAFighting.com.

“After a review of the video footage of the bout, the New York State Athletic Commission determined that there was no clear error or violation of statute or rule by referee Todd Anderson,” an NYSAC official stated.  “Therefore, the scoring and outcome of the bout will not be modified.”

Holm initially filed a complaint against Anderson for the referee’s “failure to assess a foul and render a decision regarding a point deduction following round 2, and failure to assess a foul and a point deduction following round 3, and determine an appropriate result.”

De Randamie claimed the inaugural women’s featherweight title with a five-round decision over Holm. All three cageside judges -- Sal D’Amato, Chris Lee and Jeff Mullen -- scored the contest 48-47 in favor of de Randamie. However, the Dutch striker landed blows after the bell in both the second and third round but was only given a warning from Anderson following the second instance. The punch that landed following round two was particularly damaging, as it appeared to wobble Holm before she returned to her corner (online sportsbooks).

Had at least one point been deducted, the fight would have been declared a draw. De Randamie has since denied claims that she is a dirty fighter and has offered to give Holm a rematch.
