The Japanese promotion announced on Friday that “Cro Cop” will face Hyun Man Myung at Saitama Super Arena as part of the Rizin Grand Prix. In addition to Filipovic vs. Myung, four other matchups were confirmed: Jiri Prochazka vs Mark Tanios; Amir Aliakbari vs Joao Isidoro Almeida; Teodoras Aukstuolis vs. Szymon Bajor and Karl Albrektsson vs Valentin Moldavsky.

The tournament will conclude as part of Rizin’s two-day New Year’s Eve event on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31. Wanderlei Silva will also participate in the bracket, but he has received an opening-round bye and will not fight until Dec. 29.

Filipovic, 41, last competed at UFC Fight Night 64 in Krakow, Poland, where he earned a third-round technical knockout victory over Gabriel Gonzaga.“Cro Cop” has won four of his last five bouts and owns a 31-11-2 career mark overall.

The Croatian heavyweight announced his retirement late last year before he was to face Anthony Hamilton at UFC Fight Night in Seoul, citing a shoulder injury that left him unable to raise his arm. Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that Filipovic had been flagged for an anti-doping violation. The Croatian was ultimately suspended for two years by USADA for using human growth hormone.

A native of South Korea, Myung owns a 3-2 professional mark. He last competed at Road FC 30 on April 16, falling to Siala-Mou Siliga via third-round neck crank.
