Per MMA DNA on Friday, a 170-pound rumble has been booked for UFC Fight Night 197 on Nov. 13. Inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Miguel Baeza (10-1) will square off against Kalinn Williams (12-2). On its Instagram stories, Baeza’s gym of MMA Masters confirmed the pairing shortly after its announcement.
Baeza suffered his first career defeat in June, coming up short by unanimous verdict to Santiago Ponzinibbio. Before that loss, “Caramel Thunder” had beaten all 10 of the men he faced, including three inside the Octagon. All three of his UFC victories to that point had been by second-round stoppage, knocking out Hector Aldana and Matt Brown before tapping Takashi Sato in November 2020. The 29-year-old from Florida celebrates a high finish rate of 80% in a career that began in 2015.
Williams bounced back from his first loss on the UFC roster – a decision setback to Michel Pereira – by claiming a win on the scorecards over Matthew Semelsberger in June. “Khaos the Oxfighter” burst on to the scene in 2020 when he scorched Alex Morono in 27 seconds at UFC 247 in his promotional debut on short notice, only to follow it up with a 30-second thrashing of Abdul Razak Alhassan later that year. Like his foe, Williams maintains a knockout rate above 50%, exactly one submission on his ledger, and neither he nor Baeza have ever been stopped as professionals.
On Nov. 13, UFC Fight Night 197 will take place in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex, with a much-anticipated featherweight clash between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez. While the official bout order has not yet been established, additional key matchups on the card include a featherweight fight between Felicia Spencer and Leah Letson, a flyweight bout pitting Jessica Eye against Andrea Lee and a middleweight rematch between Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus.
