Matt Schnell Moves to 135, Fills in For Alejandro Perez Against Rob Font at TUF 24 Finale

On “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 24, Matt Schnell was choked out by Tim Elliott in the first round of their quarterfinal bout, but that won't keep Schnell from an appearance at the TUF 24 Finale in Las Vegas.

Last week, Alejandro Perez was forced out of his slated bantamweight contest on Dec. 3 with Rob Font. Now, his spot will be filled by Schnell, who will jump up from 125 to 135 pounds for the contest. MMAJunkie was first to report the switch.

Prior to entering TUF 24 as the season's sixth seed at 125 pounds, Schnell posted six straight wins in the Legacy Fighting Championship cage and earned the promotion's interim flyweight title. The 26-year-old American Top Team product is now 9-2 in his pro career.

Font, 29, hasn't seen action since his May unanimous decision loss to Brazilian puncher John Lineker at UFC 198. The Team Sityodtong rep was scheduled to return to action at UFC 204 in October against Ian Entwistle, but the contest was canceled when Entwistle fell ill during his weight cut.
