Masvidal No Longer Interested in McGregor Fight: 'I Don't Want to Go to Jail for Killing Nobody'

Back in July, Jorge Masvidal wanted to fight Conor McGregor, an idea quickly shot down by UFC President Dana White, who said that “Gamebred” was too big for the Irishman. Now, Masvidal claims he wouldn’t accept the fight, as it would be too one-sided.

Masvidal’s star has skyrocketed this year, especially after his record-breaking five-second flying knee knockout of Ben Askren in July. The UFC has elected to strike while the iron is hot, booking him to fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in New York for the “BMF” belt.

Masvidal appeared on ESPN’s ”Get Up”, and when asked by host Mike Greenberg if he’d still be interested in fighting McGregor, replied in the negative, suggesting he’d kill the Irishman if he got his hands on him inside the Octagon.

“That fight the president deemed it not good because they don’t want like a murder charge on me. So they’re not gonna allow that to happen. The president himself already said it, so I mean I don’t wanna go to jail for killing nobody. That’s not what I wanna do. I’m here to compete and beat people up you know.”

Greenberg followed up by asking Masvidal if he was confident he could take care of McGregor and Masvidal said that the UFC President wouldn’t allow it to happen given the size difference between the pair:

“The president said that we can’t compete because I’m too much man. So that can’t happen. We’re different spectrums. He’s not gonna allow that to happen.”
