Louis Smolka-Ray Borg Flyweight Contest Added to UFC 207 Bill on Dec. 30

After a shocking upset loss earlier this month, Louis Smolka will get a quick chance to get back in the Octagon and the win column.

On Oct. 1 at UFC Fight Night 96, Smolka was upset by “Ultimate Fighter” Season 24 cast member Brandon Moreno, tapping out to a guillotine choke at just 2:23 of the first round. Now, Smolka has signed on to face fellow flyweight prospect Ray Borg at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (online betting).

Prior to the loss to Moreno, the 25-year-old Smolka had won four straight in the UFC, taking wins over Richie Vaculik, Neil Seery, Patrick Holohan and Ben Nguyen.

Borg, 23, lost a split decision to Dustin Ortiz in his April 2014 UFC debut, but rebounded with three straight wins over Shane Howell, Chris Kelades and Geane Herrera. At UFC Fight Night 82 this past February, “The Tazmexican Devil” had that winning streak snapped by Justin Scoggins, who earned a unanimous decision win.

UFC 207 features a pair of UFC title fights, with newly-crowned women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes defending against former champion Ronda Rousey, as well as men's bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz staking his throne against undefeated puncher Cody Garbrandt.
