Gorczynski in the marquee matchup at G-Force Fights “Bad Blood
3” this Thursday at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Fla.
Lombard will carry an 11-fight winning streak into the bout, viewed by most as a tune-up as he heads toward an eventual title defense for Bellator. The 32-year-old Cuban-born judoka last competed in November when he struck “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 semi-finalist Kalib Starnes into first-round submission at a Cage Fighting Championships event in Australia. Based at American Top Team, Lombard has not tasted defeat since his decision loss to reigning Strikeforce light heavyweight king Gegard Mousasi in November 2006. He has delivered 17 of his 22 career wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission and has plied his trade inside the Pride Fighting Championships, Deep and Spirit Martial Challenge promotions. In 26 appearances as a professional, Lombard has never been finished.
Gorczynski, an Oklahoma-based fighter, posted his third consecutive
victory when he submitted the previously unbeaten Chad
Leondhardt at a Freestyle Cage Fighting show on Jan. 16. A
Maximum Fighting Championships veteran, he has secured 14 of his 16
wins by submission and holds other notable victories against
Rudy
Bears and Bobby
Voelker.
Meanwhile, Lombard’s ATT teammate, Jorge Masvidal, will toe the line against Luis Palomino in the “Bad Blood 3” co-main event.
Masvidal last competed in November when he knocked out former Sengoku lightweight champion Satoru Kitaoka at Sengoku “Eleventh Battle.” He has rebounded from his ballyhooed submission loss to Toby Imada with back-to-back victories. The 25-year-old Masvidal counts wins over former International Fight League lightweight champion Ryan Schultz and UFC veterans Joe Lauzon, Yves Edwards, Roli Delgado and Steve Berger among his 19 career conquests.
Palomino has not competed since he stopped World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Rafael Dias on third-round strikes at an Unconquered Martial Arts event in November. The 29-year-old Miami, Fla.-based lightweight has posted three wins in his past four appearances. Victories against “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7 qualifier Jeremy May and EliteXC veteran Nick Gonzalez highlight his resume.
G-Force Fights “Bad Blood 3” will also feature the returns of WEC veteran Jonathan Brookins, street-fighter turned professional mixed martial artist Rene “Level” Martinez and the unbeaten Vagner Rocha.
