LFA 116 Weigh-in Results: Fremd vs. Valente Official; Dan Argueta Misses Weight

After nearly a month off, the Legacy Fighting Alliance is back with a vengeance in a mile-high arena in Colorado.

LFA 116 goes down in the Dobson Arena in Vail, Colo., on Friday night on UFC Fight Pass. Capping off the 13-fight billing is a middleweight clash pitting Josh Fremd (7-2) against Renato Valente Alves (8-4). Of the 26 competitors to hit the scales – including the first eight in the amateur ranks – only one fighter missed weight: Dan Argueta (138)*, who came in two pounds above the bantamweight limit. His matchup with Rodney Mondala will otherwise continue as planned, although Mondala will receive a percentage of Argueta’s purse as a result.

Fremd will be looking to rebound from the first knockout loss of his career, as he fell short to future Ultimate Fighting Championship signee Gregory Rodrigues in May by knockout at the end of the middleweight tournament. Three wins under the LFA banner led him into the tournament and to its finals, with first-round finishes of Lamar Gosey, Antonio Jones and Bruno Oliveira to his credit. Fremd hit the scales well below the 186-pound cap, weighing in at 184.4 pounds.

Valente’s promotional debut in April did not go his way, when Mark Martin defeated him by a razor-close split decision. The Brazilian was able to bounce back just over two months later when he topped Chibwikem Onyenegecha by split verdict. Valente made his way to the organization by choking out Abraham Vaesau in Bellator MMA in 2019, but Bellator did not pick him up at the time. After over 19 months on the shelf, Valente joined the LFA. Valente countered his foe by weighing in at 185.8 ready pounds while proudly sporting an Indigenous peoples’ headdress.

The main card of LFA 116 can be watched on UFC Fight Pass on Friday at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The six-bout preliminary portion of LFA 116 does not have any publicly disclosed broadcast plans.
