Kevin Ferguson Jr., aka ‘Baby Slice,’ to Make Pro MMA Debut at Bellator 162

Kevin Ferguson Jr. will make his professional mixed martial arts debut inside the Scott Coker-led Bellator MMA organization on Oct. 21, when he meets Rick Bing at Bellator 162 in Memphis, Tennessee. Bellator officials on Monday announced the booking, along with several others.

Ferguson is the 24-year-old son of the late “Kimbo Slice” -- a Miami street-fighter who rose to prominence through a series of YouTube videos and later competed in EliteXC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator. He died in June at the age of 42.

The younger Ferguson operates out of the Team Bodyshop outfit in California, where he trains under former Maximum Fighting Championship titleholder Antonio McKee. He has one amateur bout under his belt, an 83-second knockout against Tom Brink on March 12.

In addition to the Ferguson-Bing booking, Bellator has slotted Julia Budd against Arlene Blencowe. Budd has rattled off six consecutive victories since her 2011 submission loss to Ronda Rousey in Strikeforce. The 33-year-old Blencowe has won five of her past six bouts, losing only to Marloes Coenen.

Three other bouts were made official for Bellator 162: Steve Garcia vs. Ronnie Lawrence, Chase Gormley vs. Bobby Brents and Eryk Anders vs. Brian White. A middleweight clash between former champion Alexander Shlemenko and “The Ultimate Fighter 3” winner Kendall Grove will headline the event.
