Ken Shamrock Has License Revoked, Fined $2,500 for Failed Drug Test at Bellator 149

Ken Shamrock had his license revoked and was fined $2,500 by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for failing a drug test at Bellator 149.

MMAjunkie.com first reported news on Friday. Shamrock tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone and his testosterone/epitestosterone level was three times the allowed limit at 12:1 following a first-round stoppage loss to Royce Gracie on Feb. 19 in Houston. Additionally, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” tested positive for the opoid methadone.

Shamrock appealed the initial findings and claimed that the positive test was a result of medication used to treat a pituitary condition. The 52-year-old fighter dropped the appeal on July 27.

Shamrock is eligible to re-apply for a license on March 4, 2017; the ban is likely to be upheld by athletic commissions in other states, as well. Shamrock has appealed the loss to Gracie on the grounds that an illegal knee to the groin allowed his opponent to finish the fight. There has been no official word on the status of that appeal.
