Justin Gaethje Blasts Conor McGregor For Calling For Rematch With Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov continued to make his case as the best MMA lightweight of all time with another dominant display inside the Octagon, this time over Dustin Poirier on Saturday at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi. After the win, many questioned who, if anyone, can stop “The Eagle.”

While the logical next fight would see former interim champ Tony Ferguson given his chance after the first four attempts to book him against Nurmagomedov failed for a host of reasons, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White then threw a wrench in the works by suggesting that if “El Cucuy” wasn’t ready for the title fight, he would consider a rematch with former lightweight champion Conor McGregor who lost to the champion via fourth-round rear naked choke last October at UFC 229.

McGregor had stirred the pot earlier by tweeting “Book my rematch for Moscow” after Poirier was beaten.

The tweet didn’t sit too well with former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion and the current No. 5-ranked UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje, who took issue with McGregor trying to cut in line.

Gaethje, who has been highly critical of the Irishman in recent times, blasted McGregor for asking for the rematch before taking some personal shots at him.
