Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Abdul Razak Alhassan has been found not guilty on sexual assault charges from 2018.
Alhassan’s coach Steven Wright first posted the news on Friday, that Alhassan is not guilty on all charges. The jury deliberated on Friday morning, and came back with the verdict before noon. The jurors, clearing Alhassan on all counts, believed that the police officers involved in the case did not properly conduct the investigation. Additionally, they believed that Alhassan was “honest and genuine” following his arrest and subsequent interrogation.

Alhassan was accused of raping two women in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 23, 2018. He worked as a bouncer for the Varsity Tavern, and the two women were allowed into the club after the older of the two -- 20 and 22 at the time -- gave her his phone number. After celebrating at a party in the club that night, the two brought him back to the younger’s house, where she lived with her mother. It was there that Alhassan engaged in what the court deemed was not sexual assault.
Barnett told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Friday of his hopes for his client. ”His last fight was in September 2018,” Barnett stated. “This allegation put his UFC career on hold for about two years. They (UFC officials) were waiting to see what was going to happen. I think he was one of the top welterweights in the country. He was an up-and-coming fighter. He’s in shape. He’s been training. I think if he can get another fight, he would feel real good to get an opportunity.“
Inside the Octagon, Alhassan (10-1) racked up an impressive record of 4-1, with four first-round knockouts to his credit over the likes of Niko Price, Sabah Homasi and Charlie Ward. The lone blemish in his fighting career came when he dropped a split verdict to Omari Akhmedov at UFC Fight Night 109 in 2017. All 10 of the Texan's career victories have come by knockout in the opening round, with six taking place in the very first minute. “Judo Thunder” has been out of action since triumphing over Price in September 2018 at UFC 228.
Of the result, Wright was relieved, saying “We are free to go back to life.”
