Avila announced the booking on Instagram following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. The card is headlined by a heavyweight clash pitting Derrick Lewis against Alexey Oleynik and is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Avila and Montano initially squared off at HD MMA 7 in January 2017, via Avila winning a five-round verdict to capture the organization’s title.
Avila improved to 2-0 in the UFC at UFC on ESPN 10 with a 22-second technical knockout victory over Gina Mazany. “The Raging” Panda” is 8-1 as a professional and also owns notable wins over Pannie Kianzad and Marion Reneau.
Montano, the UFC’s inaugural female flyweight champion, returned from a lengthy hiatus at UFC Fight Night 155, where she dropped a unanimous decision to Julianna Pena in her bantamweight debut last July.
