Dana White revealed to ESPN on Monday that the former featherweight champion signed an contract extensions with the Las Vegas-based promotion prior to his bout with Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 237. Aldo previously claimed that he planned to fight out the remainder of his UFC deal in 2019 before retiring.

Aldo’s coach, Andre Pederneiras, confirmed with ESPN that the fighter signed a new eight-fight deal with the UFC in May.

Regarded by some as the greatest featherweight of all time, Aldo was the UFC champion from 2011 to 2015. He defended the 145-pound title seven times before falling to Conor McGregor at UFC 194. The 32-year-old Brazilian had a two-fight winning streak snapped in a unanimous decision loss to Volkanovski at UFC 237.
