John Lineker-Rob Font Bantamweight Bout Set for UFC 198 in Brazil

A bantamweight clash pitting John Lineker against Rob Font will go down at UFC 198.

The promotion’s Brazilian branch announced the matchup on Wednesday. UFC 198 takes place at Baixada Arena in Curitiba, Brazil, on May 14 and is headlined by a heavyweight title tilt between Fabricio Werdum and Stipe Miocic. The card will also feature a middleweight showdown between Vitor Belfort and Ronaldo Souza.

After a 6-2 flyweight tenure that was marred by repeated issues on the scale, Linker moved to 135 pounds at UFC 191, where he submitted Francisco Rivera with a guillotine choke 2:08 into the opening round this past September. It was the third straight UFC triumph for the 25-year-old Brazilian known as “Hands of Stone.”

Font enters the bout on an 11-fight winning streak, including a pair of finishes in the Octagon. After knocking out George Roop in his debut at UFC 175, the Team Sityodtong fighter took a lengthy hiatus before returning to stop Joey Gomez in the second stanza at UFC Fight Night in Boston on Jan. 17.
