Jo Nattawut Dominates Malaipet Sasiprapa to Win Vacant Lion Fight Middleweight Title

Not only is “Smokin’ Jo Nattawut one of the best muay Thai fighters in the world, he also made history Friday night as he became the first man to simultaneously hold world titles in two weights classes in Lion Fight.

Nattawut took a fight with Malaipet Sasiprapa for the promotion’s vacant middleweight title on just three days’ notice and he was brilliant. He saved the main event of Lion Fight 32 after Ky Hollenbeck had to withdraw due to an injury and the way he performed inside the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas seemed like he had a full training camp. Nattawut systematically broke down Malaipet over five rounds to pull away and made it look almost easy on AXS TV (online betting).

Nattawut took a round to get warmed up and figure out his fellow Thai’s style and when he did, he cruised until the end. “Smokin” Jo wound up winning a lopsided unanimous decision via tallies of 50-45 (twice) and 49-46 to add the middleweight crown to his super welterweight title. Nattawut is slated to defend his super welterweight crown next month at Lion Fight 33.

In the co-main event, Romie Adanza rallied late in the fifth when he scored a knockdown via leg kick to steal an extra point Ming Freeman to avoid defeat. The fight was close as they come as the two tore into each other’s legs and body and in the end, two of the three judges saw it 47-47 while the third had it 49-46 for Freeman, ruling the duel a majority draw.

In other action, lightweight Anthony Castrejon stopped Cody Moberly with a punishing leg kick assault to win via TKO at 1:34 of the fifth; Gabriel Mazzetti took out fellow middleweight Josh Shepard with a sensational knee-uppercut-elbow combination in the second to finally have Shepard’s corner throw in the towel; Travis Clay survived a wild war with Marvin Madariaga and eventually ended the lightweight battle with a vicious flurry of punches at 2:10 of the fourth; and super bantamweight Victor Saravia earned a unanimous decision over Kendrick Latchmann via tallies of 50-45 and 49-46 (twice).
