A light heavyweight bout pitting Ion Cutelaba against Ovince St. Preux is in the works for an upcoming UFC Fight Night card on April 25.
MMAFighting.com was first to report the booking. The event, currently titled UFC Fight Night 173, does not yet have an official location after originally being set for Lincoln, Neb. The promotion is in the process of moving some of its upcoming cards to an undisclosed venue due to the coronavirus pandemic. The card is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira.
Cutelaba is coming off a controversial 38-second TKO defeat to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Fight Night 169. The Moldova native was supposed to face Ankalaev in a rematch at UFC 249, but travel restrictions in Russia nixed those plans.
St. Preux, meanwhile, was slated to meet Shamil Gamzatov at UFC Fight Night 173, but Gamzatov was also unable to compete due to travel restrictions. The former University of Tennessee football player halted a two-bout skid with a submission of Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC Fight Night 160 on Sept. 28.
