Glory’s GelreDome Return

This week, the Singapore-based kickboxing giant announced two upcoming events at GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands. The two events will allow 27,000 fans, which is near capacity, marking another step in a return to normalcy for the promotion since the COVID-19 pandemic. Glory 79 will take place on Oct. 22, while Glory 80 will happen on a date to be announced in early 2022. No matchups have been announced yet for either card.

Glory’s last event at the GelreDome was the biggest in promotional history. Glory: Collison 2, which took place on Dec. 21, 2019, and headlined Rico Verhoeven vs. Badr Hari, set records for both attendance and viewership. Scott Rudmann, Executive Vice Chairman of Glory, professed his excitement to return to the venue where the promotion saw its greatest success.

"We are delighted to return to the place where we hosted our biggest event. To now join forces with the GelreDome in welcoming nearly 30,000 fans again is something we have been looking forward to for a long time. Glory 79 promises absolute fireworks, with fights that everyone in the world will want to watch. We can't wait to give the fans what they've been waiting for. As you can imagine, the fight cards will be tremendous to match the size of the arena," Rudmann said.

Herald van de Bunt, CEO of the GelreDome, said, “GelreDome is pleased that the originally planned event of March 2021, which could not take place because of corona, is now scheduled for Oct. 23. We are convinced that we are able to present a fantastic event to our fans!”

Glory returns from a brief hiatus on Sept. 4 with Glory 78, which will take place at Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands and will feature a live audience. The main event will see the return of former K-1 heavyweight champ Hari, as he takes on Arkadiusz Wrzosek . The co-main event features Glory light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira, defending his title in a rematch with Artem Vahkitov.

Glory extends partnership with Jack’s Casino

Also announced today, Glory and Dutch casino chain Jack’s Casino extended their partnership through 2023. The two companies have been working together since 2019. "We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Jack's. This partnership reflects our mutual drive to create world-class entertainment and deliver a better fan experience as we welcome Glory fans back to our events,” said John Martone, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Digital & Partnerships at Glory.
