The first of the many shows Brave Combat Federation is scheduled to hold in Europe this summer went down at the Beraria H in Bucharest, Romania, on Monday.

In the main event of Brave CF 35, Enrico Cortese (7-2) forced Claudiu Axinte (0-1) to tap in the latter's MMA pro debut. Cortese should have initially faced Mohammad Fakhreddine, but "The Latest" was unable to travel to Romania due to Covid-19 flight restrictions. The Italian fighter adjusted his game plan and shot for a takedown early in the opening round, exploiting the fact that Axinte is a kickboxing veteran. On the canvas, "The Killing Machine" gained the mount with ease, exposing that Axine still has a lot of ground to cover as far as the grappling goes. After Cortese landed a few vicious punches and elbows from above, Axinte tapped at the 2:00 mark of the opening round.

The co-main event saw Ion Grigore (7-1) and Mamadou Lamine Sene (3-2) lock horns in the heavyweight division. The two behemoths didn't spare any energy in their clash, but eventually, Grigore proved to be the better fighter, winning by technical knockout 4:30 into Round 2. While former Glory competitor Sene came out strong in the opening stanza, Grigore was able to take his opponent's best strikes. The Romanian contender then came back with some combinations of his own in the second round after the referee called for action several times due to both fighters stalling the match. Sene went to the canvas after eating several uppercuts from Grigore, who is now riding a five-bout winning streak.

In the only women’s MMA match on the card, Malin Hermansson (5-1) scored her first career submission victory after overcoming RXF veteran Ana Maria Pal (2-4) at the 2:30 mark of the second round of their flyweight encounter. Elsewhere, Aboubakar Tounkara (6-1) smashed Marvin Belecciu in Belecciu's MMA pro debut via TKO 3:36 into Round 2 in a 155-pound clash, and Mihai Laurentiu Iorga (3-2) rendered Ioan Vranceanu (7-18) unconscious thanks to a highlight-reel head-kick KO 3:34 into the second stanza.

In the opening fight of the event, Mirel Dragan (2-2-1) gave himself the perfect birthday present as he submitted Marian Olaru (1-3) with a guillotine choke at the 2:39 mark of Round 1.
