The Ultimate Fighting Championship is making sure its first event in front of fans since March 2020 will proceed as safely as possible.

UFC 261 will take place at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., with no audience limitations for the 15,000-seat venue. According to the promotion, tickets for the event sold out in minutes, breaking the record for the highest gross in arena history.

With that comes enhanced COVID-19 protocols for fans who will attend UFC 261. The Las Vegas-based organization has partnered with CLEAR to provide that company’s Health Pass service to fans. According to a release, Health Pass “is a free, mobile experience by CLEAR that securely connects a user’s verified identity to multiple layers of COVID-19-related health information to help reduce public health risk.”

Those who purchase tickets will be able to use Health Pass to access a confidential, COVID-19-related questionnaire. Those who do not want to use the app will be directed to a kiosk outside of Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena to complete a physical copy of the questionnaire.

Attendees are required to complete the questions in advance of the event, and those who are issued a green notification on the Health Pass app will be granted entry into arena. Ticket holders whose responses result in a red notification will not be allowed to enter and will be advised on how to seek proper medical attention as well as refund information.

According to a relese, “more than 60 organizations across the country use Health Pass to create safer environments, including teams across all major sports leagues.”

Additionally, the promotion has partnered with O2 Industries to provide free face coverings to fans attending both UFC 261 and UFC 262, which is set for the Toyota Center in Houston on May 15. Fans will be offered the masks by UFC staff upon entering those arenas, per a release.
