Ediane Gomes-Pam Sorenson, Brooksie Bayard-Shaianna Rincon Added to May 20 Invicta FC 23

Invicta Fighting Championships 23 has gained a pair of bouts.

When Invicta returns to the Scottish Rite Temple on May 20 in Kansas City, Missouri, the card will feature a featherweight bout between veteran Ediane Gomes and prospect Pam Sorenson, as well as bantamweight Shaianna Rincon making her professional debut against Brooksie Bayard.

Invicta FC 23 streams live on UFC Fight Pass and is headlined by a pair of high stakes flyweight bouts, as Roxanne Modafferi faces Sarah D'Alelio, while Brazil's anessa Porto takes on undefeated Polish prospect Agnieszka Niedzwiedz in the main event.

The 36-year-old Gomes will be making her return to the 145-pound division. In 2013, she saw a host of scheduled featherweight bouts with opponents such as Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, Julia Budd and Charmaine Tweet all fall apart, whether due to injury or visa issues for her or her slated opponent. “India” dropped to 135 pounds in pursuit of better opportunities, but was defeated by Tonya Evinger and Raquel Pa'aluhi.

Gomes was scheduled to make her return to action and the featherweight division at Invicta FC 15 in January 2016, but pulled out of her bout due to medical complications related to her weight cut.

Sorenson, a Minnesota native, has also spent recent time competing at 135 pounds, but wound up clocking in at nearly 141 pounds for what was slated to be a bantamweight bout against Jessica-Rose Clark at Invicta 20 last November. “Bam” won a split decision nonetheless, her third straight victory.

The 23-year-old Rincon, a native of Vacaville, California, compiled a 4-0 record as an amateur, including a pair of victories over recent Bellator MMA signing Brooke Mayo.

Bayard has posted a 1-1 mark as a professional, picking up her first pro win back in May 2015, choking out Sha Wittington. She also holds an amateur win over Colbey Northcutt, older sister of Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Sage Northcutt.
