Dominique Steele Out, Omari Akhmedov In Versus Kyle Noke at UFC Fight Night in Melbourne

Almost as soon as he got an opponent, Kyle Noke has a new one.

Noke was originally slated to face welterweight Dominique Steele at UFC Fight Night 101 in Melbourne, Australia. Now, an undisclosed injury to Steele has forced the American out of the bout. Instead, the 11-fight UFC veteran Noke will meet Dagestan's Omari Akhmedov when the UFC heads to Rod Laver Arena on Nov. 27.

FoxSports.com.au were the first to report the bout change with confirmation from UFC officials.

Noke, 36, has compiled a 6-5 mark in the Octagon over his UFC tenure, but has dropped back-to-back bouts to Alex Morono at UFC 195 this past January and “K-Taro” Keita Nakamura at UFC Fight Night 91 in July. The 29-year-old Akhmedov is in a similar situation, coming off consecutive stoppage losses to Brazilians Sergio Moraes and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in December and April.

UFC Fight Night 101 takes place on Nov. 27 in Melbourne, Nov. 26 in North America, and airs on Fox Sports 1. The card is headlined by a pair of middleweight bouts, with Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo Souza rematching, as well as a showdown between rising contenders Derek Brunson and Robert Whittaker.
