A failed Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight has decided to move back to the featherweight division.

Dumont made her UFC debut in 2020 against Megan Anderson, and she was punched out by the future featherweight title challenger in the first round. The Brazilian attempted to drop down to bantamweight, and she missed weight badly against Ashlee Evans-Smith but won a decision. A subsequent attempt to reach the 135-pound limit was even less successful in April, when she tried to take on Bea Malecki and then Erin Blanchfield, only to again miss weight by such a high margin that the UFC canceled her fight.
Spencer will be looking to rebound from a one-sided shellacking against champ Amanda Nunes in June 2020, where she survived to the final bell. Two of three Sherdog scorers for that drubbing gave Nunes four 10-8 rounds, but the official judges handed in scorecards of 50-44, 50-44 and 50-45. Spencer’s only two career defeats have come against consensus all-time great featherweights Nunes and Cristiane Justino, with “Feenom” sporting a 75 percent finish rate against other competition.
UFC Fight Night 188 goes down on May 2 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, with bantamweights headlining as Rob Font faces Cody Garbrandt. The co-main event comes in the form of a potential women’s strawweight title eliminator when Xiaonan Yan takes on ex-champ Carla Esparza.
