Cormier announced the matchup during UFC Tonight on Wednesday. The two men first squared off for the vacant 205-pound strap at UFC 187, with Cormier winning via rear-naked choke 2:39 into the third round. It is currently unclear if Cormier-Johnson 2 will serve as the event’s headliner. UFC 206 will take place at the Air Canada Centre and airs on pay-per-view.

“I told you you would wait until I decided. After the fight it will be “and still.” Anthony knows what’s gonna happen, I know what’s gonna happen, the fans know what’s gonna happen,” Cormier said. “I’m gonna stand right in front of him. I’m gonna knock him out right in the middle of the Octagon. I’m proving a point. Anthony, you’re going down once again. Right hand, down goes ‘Rumble.’”

After beating Johnson, Cormier defending the belt in a split-decision triumph over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192. He was then scheduled to face Jon Jones in a title unification bout at UFC 200, but that matchup was scrapped when “Bones” failed a pre-fight drug test. Instead, Cormier outpointed Anderson Silva in a non-title bout at the July 9 event.

Johnson has won three straight since the loss to Cormier, posting knockout victories against Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira. “Rumble” has lost just once in his last 13 contests.
