Dana White Claims Brock Lesnar 'Made The Right Decision' in Retiring from MMA

After months of teasing and speculation over whether he would return to the UFC to challenge for Daniel Cormier’s heavyweight title and provide a likely blockbuster payday to himself and “DC,” Brock Lesnar has reportedly retired from MMA.

That means that fans won’t get to see the Octagon return of WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion Lesnar, but UFC President Dana White claims to support Lesnar’s decision. In an Instagram Live session this week, White insisted he wasn’t upset with Lesnar’s decision to retire from MMA noting that Lesnar’s head wasn’t fully in the game (via MMAFighting.com):

“I wasn’t pissed at all,” White said. “Brock had a good run here. It’s been fun. Listen to fight in this business you have to be 100 percent invested. You’ve got to be in. It’s not where his head was. He made the right decision.”

As Lesnar’s return began to look less likely over recent months, the UFC booked Cormier in a rematch with the man he defeated last year to take the heavyweight belt, Stipe Miocic. Cormier meets Miocic on Aug. 17 in the main event of UFC 241 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, and has suggested that it will likely be his last fight.
