On Friday, UFC President Dana White was interviewed by play-by-play commentator Jon Anik on ESPN’s YouTube to release the details for UFC on ESPN 11 on June 20. Like several cards before it, this event will be hosted at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Every fight billed was already announced in some fashion, but the specific lineup has been modified.

Topping the card is a heavyweight showdown between Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov, who were originally planning on squaring off in Saskatoon, Canada. As the event was relocated to Las Vegas due to the coronavirus pandemic, the headliner pairing remained intact. Blaydes has rattled off three straight wins including knockouts of Junior dos Santos and Shamil Abdurakhimov, while Volkov returned from a knockout loss to Derrick Lewis to capture a decision over Greg Hardy in November.

Also during the interview, White briefly touched on “Fight Island,” once again confirming that it will be held on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This location has played host to multiple UFC cards in the past, most recently for UFC 242 in 2019. Of the future fights held on that series of consecutive cards, White stated, “[There is] All this pent up demand for the international fights.”

Regarding a small number of logistics that go into the card, White concluded the topic by explaining, “We have this - it’s called the ‘safety zone’. It’s 10 square miles where no one is there on the island but us.” Among the amenities for the fighters include a separate hotel, a restaurant and individual training facilities for each athlete.
