Czar Sklavos No Match for Chico Camus in Resurrection Fighting Alliance 40 Headliner

Chico Camus has taken his Ultimate Fighting Championship release in stride.

Takedowns, a suffocating top game and a clear advantage in the standup department carried the Roufusport flyweight to a lopsided unanimous decision over Czar Sklavos in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance 40 headliner on Friday at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Camus (16-7) swept the scorecards with identical 30-27 marks from the judges.

Sklavos (12-5) was on the defensive for much of the 15-minute bout. Camus flummoxed him on the feet with darting punches, feints and steady switch stances before turning to his takedowns. The 31-year-old Milwaukee native spent more than four minutes in top position in the second round, mauling Sklavos with punches and elbows. Camus experienced one notable hiccup. Early in round three, he snatched an ill-advised single-leg, only to find himself ensnared in an armbar. Camus managed to extricate himself after several harrowing moments and resumed his efforts from guard, half guard and occasionally full mount.

A protégé of four-time world kickboxing champion Duke Roufus, Camus has pieced together back-to-back wins since receiving his UFC pink slip following consecutive losses to Henry Cejudo and Kyoji Horiguchi in 2015.

In the bantamweight co-main event, Systems Training Center export Terrion Ware carved up Marvin Blumer with punches and proved himself a far superior boxer on his way to a three-round unanimous verdict. All three cageside judges scored it for Ware (15-5): 29-27, 30-27 and 29-28.

Blumer (11-6) struck for takedowns in the first and third rounds but failed to consolidate them with damage. Ware answered with jabs, overhand rights and occasional leg kicks. He did his best work in the middle stanza, where he doubled over Blumer with a brutal right hook to the solar plexus. Ware then turned up the heat with punches upstairs, as his counterpart lowered his guard to protect his midsection. Blumer absorbed a significant amount of punishment but refused to wilt.

Ware survived a pair of takedowns in round three and continued to methodically chip away with punches, settling for the decision. The 30-year-old Californian has rattled off 10 victories across his past 13 outings.

Meanwhile, Spartan Martial Arts rep Chase Waldon knocked out Bellator alum James Austen Heidlage in the first round of their showcase at 185 pounds. Waldon (10-1) brought it to a close just 15 seconds into round one, as he recorded his eighth straight win.

Heidlage (9-3) was done before he knew what happened. Waldon floored him with an overhand right, invited him to stand and proceeded to connect with the same punch. Heidlage pancaked over his right leg, prompting referee Merrick Morlan to act on his behalf.

Waldon, 29, has beaten his last two opponents in 43 seconds combined.

In other action, Power MMA’s Dan Moret (11-2) claimed a split decision -- 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 -- from the previously unbeaten Alex Gilpin (5-1) in a three-round featherweight tilt; Jordon Larson (7-2) tapped Jonathon Thomson (4-2) with a kimura 3:54 into the first round of their encounter at 170 pounds; Carl Wittstock (7-1) submitted a bloodied Benjamin Locken (5-4) with a triangle armbar 3:34 into round one of their lightweight scrap; and Bobby Lee (4-1) put away Kyle Todd (2-1) with punches 4:12 into the first round of their clash at 155 pounds.
