Conor McGregor Seeking Judicial Review of Nevada Athletic Commission Fine

Conor McGregor is still fighting the hefty fine he received from the Nevada Athletic Commission for his part in a water-bottle throwing incident ahead of UFC 202.

The UFC lightweight champion has petitioned for a judicial review naming NAC Executive Director Bob Bennett and the NAC as respondents, according to Clark County (Nevada) court records. MMAjunkie.com first reported the news.

McGregor was fined $150,000 -- five percent of his disclosed $3 million purse -- and sentenced to 50 hours of community service for the melee that occurred at a press conference before UFC 202 in Las Vegas on Aug. 17. McGregor hurled water bottles and a Monster energy drink can at Nate Diaz after Diaz and his team left the dais early. A security guard was reportedly injured as both sides threw objects at each other.

McGregor apologized for his actions over the phone during a disciplinary hearing, but that didn’t seem to lessen the sanctions. After the penalty was imposed, McGregor said he wouldn’t ever fight in Nevada again and implied that the NAC would have difficulty collecting the fine.

A date for the hearing has not been scheduled.
