McGregor pleaded guilty to speeding, and the other charges were withdrawn after it was determined he did indeed have a driver’s license. The fighter also apologized in court, saying “I didn’t realize I was going that fast,” according to the report. Judge Desmond Zaidan fined McGregor €1,000 ($1,128) and suspended him from driving for six months.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that McGregor had 12 prior traffic offenses over the past 10 years, including speeding, driving while holding a mobile phone, driving in a bus lane and running a red light. The “Notorious” acknowledged to the court that he’s “gotta drive safer” in the future.
McGregor is coming off a fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in what was his first MMA bout in nearly two years. The Irishman faces discipline from the Nevada State Athletic Commission at an upcoming hearing for his role in a brawl that occurred after the fight.
