Conor McGregor Calls UFC 246 Highest-Selling PPV of 2020 with More Than 1.3 Million Buys

If Conor McGregor is to be believed, UFC 246 sold more pay-per-views than initially projected.

The former two-division champion shared a document from Zuffa, LLC that listed UFC 246 having a projected total of 1.285 million buys and a collected reported figure of 1.353 million buys in regards to McGregor’s pay-per-view points.

McGregor defeated Donald Cerrone via technical knockout 40 seconds into the opening round of their Jan. 18 bout. In his post, McGregor claims that UFC 246 is the promotion’s top-selling event of 2020.

"Congrats to the [UFC] on a well fought 2020! The only sporting company on the planet to come through the entire year! Incredible!” McGregor wrote. “I am honoured to secure their highest PPV of the year with McGregor Vs Cerrone. “Congrats Donald, and also on his double submission win last night.”

That figure exceeds what was initially revealed during a company conference call early this year, when Disney CEO and Chairman Robert Iger announced that UFC 246 drew approximately 1 million pay-per-view buys to ESPN+.

If McGregor’s claim is true, UFC 246 would indeed surpass UFC 251 as the top pay-per-view draw of the year. UFC 251 reportedly drew 1.3 million buys on ESPN+ for a card headlined by a welterweight championship duel between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal.

McGregor is scheduled to return to action for a rematch with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 on Jan. 23.
