Chris Horodecki-Derek Gauthier to Headline TKO Major League MMA Return Nov. 4

TKO Major League MMA, the Canadian mixed martial arts promotion that once served as a staging ground for fighters like two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight titleholder Georges St. Pierre, will rise from the ashes of an eight-year absence in November.

Former International Fight League cornerstone Chris Horodecki and Derek Gauthier are expected to lock horns in the TKO 36 “Resurrection” headliner on Nov. 4 at Tohu in Montreal. TKO has not promoted an event since October 2008.

Horodecki has not fought since June 2015, when he submitted to a neck crank from four-time NCAA All-American Lance Palmer under the World Series of Fighting banner. The 28-year-old Shawn Tompkins protégé started his career 12-0 but has gone a disappointing 9-6-1, with one no-contest, across his last 17 appearances. Victories over Ryan Schultz, Bart Palaszewski, Ed West and Daniel Downes highlight the Horodecki resume.

Gauthier, 30, will enter the cage on a three-fight losing streak. The Tristar Gym export last competed at a Superior Challenge event in 2014, when he wound up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against Jonathan Svensson in Sodertalje, Sweden. Gauthier has delivered all seven of his wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Other bouts booked for TKO 36 include Jesse Ronson-Jimmy Spicuzza, Jo Vallee-Fritz Paul and Lindsay Garbatt-Maguy Berchel.
