Carlos Condit-Max Griffin Welterweight Scrap Added to UFC 264

The July pay-per-view offering for the Ultimate Fighting Championship keeps on growing.

Per MMA Junkie on Thursday, and later confirmed by other outlets, fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at UFC 264 will be receiving one more thrilling battle on July 10. Former interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit (32-13) will be squaring off with Max Griffin (17-8) in an encounter between two action fighters on two-fight win streaks.

Condit brought an end to a five-fight skid in October 2020 by beating Court McGee, and thereby earning just his third decision victory of his career. Three and a half months later, Condit took on Matt Brown in a long-awaited battle, and the two threw down for three rounds in a contest that deserved “Fight of the Night” consideration. His decision win over Brown lowered the career finish rate of “The Natural Born Killer” to 87 percent.

Like Condit, Griffin has won is last two, in the form of a doctor stoppage over Ramiz Brahimaj in November and a knockout of Kenan Song in March. The win streak Griffin finds himself on is his first since a pair of knockouts under the West Coast Fighting Championship banner to propel him into the UFC. A win for “Pain” would even the Tachi Palace Fights vet’s UFC record to .500.

UFC 264 will go down on July 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which sees a lightweight rubber match Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor on top of the card. Several other important welterweight tilts buoy the card, including Gilbert Burns vs. Stephen Thompson, Sean Brady vs. Kevin Lee and Michel Pereira vs. Niko Price.
