The promotion announced the news in a statement on Saturday morning:

UFC announced that C.B. Dollaway has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 203 due to an injury he suffered last night as a result of an elevator accident at a hotel in Cleveland.

UFC officials have been in communication with hotel management, and the hotel is currently evaluating and investigating the issues surrounding the incident.

According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Dollaway suffered a back injury while riding in an elevator on Friday afternoon. After consulting with doctors, the Power MMA Team product was ruled out of the bout vs. Barroso.

Dollaway was stuck in the elevator with fellow UFC 203 competitors Urijah Faber, Fabricio Werdum, Yancy Medeiros and Brad Tavares after weigh-ins, but the former Arizona State University wrestling standout was the only fighter to be injured.

After three consecutive losses at middleweight, “The Doberman” was scheduled to make his 205-pound debut in the Octagon on Saturday night. UFC 203 takes place at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and is headlined by a heavyweight title bout between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem. The card will move forward with 10 bouts following the cancellation.
