A featherweight showdown between Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung will serve as the main event for UFC Fight Night 165 in South Korea on Dec. 21.
The Las Vegas-based promotion announced the pairing on Monday. UFC Fight Night 165 takes place at Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea, and will also include a light heavyweight tilt between Volkan Oezdemir and Aleksandar Rakic. The main card will air on ESPN+ at 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT following prelims on ESPN at 2 a.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
Ortega is coming off a fourth-round technical knockout loss to Max Holloway in a featherweight title bout at UFC 231 last December. Prior to that, “T-City” was unbeaten in 15 professional appearances, including seven in the Octagon. Ortega owns notable triumphs over Frankie Edgar, Cub Swanson and Renato Carneiro in UFC competition.
Jung, meanwhile, rebounded from a heartbreaking loss against Yair Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 139 to score a 58-second TKO of Carneiro in his last outing at UFC Fight Night 154 on June 22. “The Korean Zombie” is 5-2 during his promotional tenure, with notable wins over Dustin Poirier, Dennis Bermudez and Mark Hominick. The 32-year-old South Korean came up short in a title bid against then champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163 in August 2013.
